This could be used for hyperplastic (excess tissue/inflammation), or gum disease pockets in conjunction with gum therapy procedures, or gum shaping to obtain symmetry (specifically in the anterior zone). Oftentimes for esthetics, it is used to shape the tissue to proper heights prior to placing ceramic veneers.
